How BAH works
What these rates do and don't tell you.
Use the official DTMO BAH rate lookup to confirm the rate for your own duty station, grade and dependency status.
What decides a service member's BAH?
BAH depends on the member's duty location, pay grade and dependency status. The rate is set for the military housing area of the duty station, not for the address of the home the member rents or owns.
Do service members in Hawaii receive BAH or OHA?
Service members assigned to Hawaii who are not in government housing receive BAH, as anywhere in the 50 states. The Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA) is for members stationed overseas, and Hawaii and Alaska are excluded.
How often do BAH rates change?
DTMO publishes a new set of rates each year, effective January 1, and can adjust an area's rates during the year. We update this page when new Oahu rates are published.
Is this an official government page?
No. Hawaii Coastal Property Management is not affiliated with the Department of Defense. We reproduce DTMO's published rates for convenience; DTMO's own rate lookup is the official source.
